Town Roads

Weight limit permit (Over weight trucks)

Any truck exceeding the weight limit posting to transport loads are required to complete a Weight Limit Posting Permit.   The driver/owner of the truck or town resident hiring the truck is required to complete the Weight Limit Permit.   A copy of the completed and authorized permit is required inside the truck during use on our Town roads.

See Weight Limit Permit Application

The following Town roads have weight restriction signs year around.

Ellis Rd
Merryland Drive (Hwy 66 to County Rd I)
Kranski Lake Rd
Rocky Ridge Rd
10th St
Merryland Rd (County Rd CC to Merryland Dr)
Erin Rd
Rustic Rd
County Line Rd

The Town may use seasonal or special weight limit restrictions, depending on the situation.  Seasonal weight limits may be imposed during the spring thaw. This protects our Town roads because the road beds are weak due to excess moisture.  A weaker road means the pavement is more easily damaged.  If you want to exceed a special or seasonal weight limit, you must first complete the permit for the Town Clerk.  The Town can then attach conditions to the permit to protect our Town roads.

Road Maintenance

Improving and sustaining our roads in the Town of Sharon is a continual task.  Maintaining and repairing our roads, to the high standards of our board and residents, is the responsibility of the Town of Sharon road crew based on their annual allotted budget.

Please notify the Town about damage to your road or trees/branches that need trimming within the right-of-way, by calling the Clerk (715-592-6600), sending an email message (townofsharon@wi-net.com), or calling the Town garage (715- 592-4530).

Snow Plowing

We have 69 miles of roads in Sharon to plow.  The Town of Sharon provides snow removal services for the safety and convenience of its residents. Our policy for snowplowing is as follows. After a snowfall, or when a sufficient amount of snowfall has occurred as to impede safe travel, we
1. Keep main routes open
2. Open secondary routes
3. Open minor roads

Our fleet of 3 Trucks is maintained and operated by Town personnel.  When we are snowplowing, please stay 200 feet away from the truck.  The snowplowing of private driveway is not available.

Spring Clean-Up

The Town of Sharon Road Crew participate in the Annual Spring Clean-up, generally the third Saturday in May.
